I go to a meeting every month. At the last one we had this cool discussion about modern Christian fiction. One woman made the point that it's sort of insulting to Christians because publishers and authors seem to think that it isn't necessary to create interesting multi-dimensional characters and it seems like no one ever dies and everything always ends happy happy. I'm reading the LEFT BEHIND series, and that's pretty true, though some minor characters die.. Like according to the authors there are supposed to be lots of martyrs so you'd expect lots of death... I'm on the fourth book and there has been a world war and pestilence and a huge earthquake and yet everything seems pretty sanitized. ----- Original Message ----- From: Leslie Haig-Widner To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, May 12, 2005 9:32 AM Subject: [BookCrossing] Meetup Groups
I know we've talked about the new fees associated with meetups. But I was curious. How many of us here in the yahoo group go to meetups. Do you do it through meetup.com or do you go another way - such as the Yahoo version. I mean....ACTUALLY go. Not just MEAN to go. : ) -- Leslie Olysmom Seattle WA Currently reading: WAR DRAGONS (Star Trek: The Captain's Table)- L.A.
