No, not crap. Just different. I have read almost everything he has ever written, so I still think he's good. But he doesn't read the same as his earlier stuff. I really loved the feel of his earlier stories, especially the short stories. Skeleton Crew et al. Especially Shawshank Redemption. I didn't like Dolores Clairborne or Gerald's Game. I like Rose Madder and Insomnia but I didn't like Desperation or the Regulators. Although I have to say that The Girl Who Love Tom Whats-His Name I really didn't think was in his style at all. I was thinking ghost writer for a second there. The short stories in Everything's Eventual don't compare to Night Shift... What got me was how the tone changed right in the middle of the Dark Tower series but I guess he's been writing that for years upon years. As for TV - his rendition of The Shining was better than the original movie with Jack Nicholson but I didn't like Kingdom Hospital.

Hearts in Atlantis and Bag of Bones are both favorites of mine and they have both been recently published (well comparatively anyway.) Exactly which books are supposedly 'crap' ?
