My OBCZ (Stone Soup Market) had a pig roast last week-end and at the
last minute I decided to set up a table with books and info on it. I
managed to get about 100 or so books ready along with the 120 or so
already on my bookshelf inside, and made brochures and bookmarks. There
were quite a few people that looked at the books and brochures and I
talked to some. Everyone seemed very positive about the concept and I
had 42 books taken. Now I have to admit I took 4 of those when fellow
bookcrosser wensch showed up with a box of books but one of the books
was for my sister. I think that was pretty good for a first try. Stone
Soup is planning another event for October so at least I'll have a
little more time to prepare for that one. I did figure out that most
people didn't realize they could take as many books as they wanted and
were limiting themselves to one until I assured them that the more they
took the happier I was I. Guess I'll have to make sure I have signage
to clearly state that next time. It was very interesting to walk past
the book display on my way to food or drink and see how the different
people interacted with the books.
