Please forgive me if this is not the best place to ask this...

I just found out today that a close friend who had a cancer scare last year
--which I was no use during-- has been told negative news. While here with me
today she was trying to do her best to come across as being in control of
things, totally organised and putting things in order and the only time I saw
anything remotely close to the fear she must be feeling is when she shared with
me that she will be amazed if she comes through this.. I promise I am coming to
the point...

This where I need help. I want to be able to educate myself on this some, learn
how to do things to help her through without crowding her, without making
things inadvertantly worse and also share some books on the subject with her
too.... I am not asking for a handout though any books that anyone is willing
to toss at me will be more than welcomed.. I would like to know if anyone here
has dealt with this too , whether as the survivor, the person with the disease
or like myself, the close friend.. I would like to know if you found any books
or sites particularly useful and if you could forward me the names of such, I
would be more grateful than words could ever express.

Sincerely
Char
