Hi, reillylady, and welcome to BookCrossing! If your husband is willing to drop books for you now and then, you could keep trying that - many books are journaled months or even years after release, as the finders either thought they had to read them before journaling or simply put them on a shelf and forgot them. Release spots that have worked pretty well for me include ATM booths (the enclosed kind that you need a card to get into, or even the drive-through kind if there's something you can prop a book up on within reach of the driver's window), gas stations, and museums. And any place with a waiting room (especially if it already has a stack of magazines, newspapers, and/or books for customers to read) would be a good spot to leave a BC book; even if you don't get a journal entry, the book probably helped get someone through the waiting period more happily.
If you want to get involved in some of the optional BC activities such as trading by mail, take a look at the very helpful BookCrossing FAQ on TexasWren's page here: http://www.texaswren.com . That explains things like how to set up a wishlist or how to go about asking for a trade. And if your community ever has charity sales you could offer a batch of BC-registered books; no guarantee that people will journal them but it'll get 'em out of your house, and bring in a little for charity. For more ideas, check out the Release Techniques forum on the BC site ( http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/2 ). And I hope you enjoy BookCrossing! -GoryDetails See the books I've set free at: http://bookcrossing.com/referral/GoryDetails Have you told a friend today? http://bookcrossing.com/tellafriend Archives and email list settings: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BookCrossing Yahoo!
