Oh my gosh, I actually read more books in August than in July. LOL

First up is Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty. Out of a possible 10 stars,
I only gave this one 4. Sounds like a poor rating, but a 4 is just less
than half so I consider it just below average, like a C- or D. It wasn't a
great book but not the worst book I've ever read. Just wasn't what I was
expecting. When the first sentence in a book's description says "My parents
suck ass," you tend to expect a little more of the WOW factor but this just
didn't do it for me. Probably more my mood at the time than anything else
directly due to the book. I will be looking out for the sequel.

Next up was Dark Side Of The Moon by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I gave this a 9 star
rating. It wasn't my favorite Dark Hunter story, but it was good! The
author has kicked it up a notch by taking the series into a darker place. I
missed seeing all of the past characters that made appearances throughout
the series, but did enjoy meeting the new ones and there were some surprise
appearances.

Readers will be happy to see Nick Gautier back but surprised as hell as he
isn't the Nick we all remember and love. Savitar is his usual smart aleck
self and makes a very brief appearance. Would love to see more of him in
the future. There's definitely a story there. Ash doesn't figure into this
story as much as he has in the past. Several new Dark-Hunters are
introduced that I want to know more about. Specifically, Cael, a Scottish
Dark-Hunter who isn't what you would expect...but then I am partial to all
things Scottish. LOL

The final book read was The Good, The Bad, And The Undead by Kim Harrison.
This one also received 9 stars. I'm really enjoying this series so far.
The second book puts Rachel face to face with her fears and some interesting
revelations from her past. The magic gets darker and more dangerous as well
as Rachel and Nick discover when a charm they conjure goes wrong.

I look forward to reading more about the living vampires, Ivy and Kisten and
the role they will play in the upcoming books. As always, I adore Jenks.
He brings so much life and spirit to the stories that he should hold a much
larger role than the supporting one he does as Rachel's sidekick pixie.

Happy Reading or doing whatever it is that makes you happy...
