A lot of corporate places are the same - anywhere, where the franchiser is
really tied up by tight company regulations. I could cite McDomnalds, Hungry
Jacks etc except for the fact that I'm leaving myself open to legal attack
so I won't do any such thing <grin>.

Look for quieter, more friendly franchises like The Cookie Man (which I also
didn't name) or individual cafes that are not franchises at all.

I also released onto a local optometrist's front desk when I had my eyes
checked, and I regularly release on the benches at a particular taxi rank
and in a particular bus shelter. If you make it a public place like that
where people are in transit, not only will a wide variety of people see your
books, but you can be reasonably certain they will be released somewhere
completely different, so their journey will be more interesting.
