"Traveling" means that is no longer in the possession of the last person to
have it. This can mean:
  1. It was wild released and the location of where the BCer left it will be
noted.
  2. It was mailed to another BCer and hasn't been received yet.
The journal entries should explain what the book is "doing."
I will set the book to traveling if I mail it overseas. I send books by the
cheapest route when it leaves the US, so I mark it traveling. Some of my books
don't make it to their destinations (or don't get journaled as being received),
so I don't want others "hunting" for it. This is one good reason to journal a
book as soon as it comes into your possession. The BCer who released it or
mailed it will know that the book is safe.

Hi everyone. I just found out about BookCrossing and I am very
excited about it. I tried Geocaching once with a friend, and while it
was adventureous, I did not enjoy digging through the woods and what
not. Hopefully, hunting for books will be a little more "civilized."
:) Anyway, my question...on the bookcrossing site, under "go
hunting," what does it mean if the status of a book is "traveling"?
Does that mean it has been found or is it still in its hiding spot?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I want to know everything I
can about BookCrossing!
