Another suggestion is to bottom post rather than top post.  Leave just 
enough of the message you're replying to to make it clear what and who your 
reply is directed towards (especially important when posting on lists with 
multiple people involved in the conversation who can't see who you're 
"looking at" when you "talk"), and type your reply in at the bottom.  Not 
only do we read, in English, top to bottom, but this helps you remember to 
trim because YOU have to scroll through all that stuff to get to where you 
want to post!
