Actually, it would not make much sense to try BookCrossing with the
Amazon Kindle (or any other downloadable-content e-book reader);
there's no physical book that will travel around. Oh, sure, the BC
site does have an e-book category, but that's almost an afterthought
and unless it refers to physical media of some kind (an e-text file
on a CD, for example) I've never found it very appealing; if you want
to share comments on a title, there are lots of sites that make that
easier than BC. Since BC's focus is on tracking the actual journies
of individual copies of books, any use of it with ephemeral content
like an e-book reader's downloads would be a pretty radical change,
in my opinion.

There are some e-books that are pre-loaded and (I think) read-only;
those one certainly could BookCross, since the physical gadgets along
with the specific book(s) they contained would be doing the
traveling. But that's a different case.

If the Kindle, or other downloadable e-book readers, become wildly
popular, and if there's enough desire among BCers to have some way
to - not track, exactly, but share comments on them - then perhaps BC
could add features to handle them more effectively.

[While I prefer books that don't require batteries and/or an internet
connection of some kind, I can see situations where an e-book reader
might be very, very handy, but I won't be the first in line to try
one out - I think I'll wait and see how the technology shakes out!]
