Ha ha I (the other night) purchased a book containing seven stories by Herman Melville. Yeah, one of those big Barnes & Noble tomes. I've already decided to skip Moby Dick as I read through this as I don't think I have ever been so disappointed with a book as I was with it. I nearly stopped reading it a dozen times as I slogged through the last hundred pages or so.
As for just quitting once I decide it's just not for me, I would. I've tried. But it will bother me until I pick it back up again that "OMG I might be missing something!"... so it's easier in the long haul to keep reading, most of the time. Like I said way earlier in this thread, there's been a few books I just couldn;t finish, but I also (oddly enough) had no concern over whether or not they might hold some hidden gems later on. It only took 50 years but it was liberating! I used to keep reading regardless, sure that "it HAS to get better in the next chapter" or "something will happen in the next chapter to bring this all together." ________________________________ From: Nisaba Merrieweather <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, January 11, 2009 2:14:05 AM Subject: Re: [BookCrossing] Re: books given up on G'dday. ----- Original Message ----- From: "M G" <spanishdivaangel@ yahoo.com> To: <BookCrossing@ yahoogroups. com> Sent: Friday, January 09, 2009 8:46 AM Subject: [BookCrossing] Re: books given up on > The book I kind of gave up on this year was Anna > Karenina.
