I have a MacBook Pro running Catalina with latest updates. I've just
downloaded the MacOS version of LMS 7.9.3 that Michael linked to in his
post in this thread. It was the pkg file, not a dmg, and is described as
Mac OSX.

I was asked whether I wanted to keep or discard the download - I
selected "Keep"

I double clicked to open the pkg file. This was refused because it came
from an unidentified developer.

I Control-clicked the file (i.e. held control down while clicking the
file) - I was then offered the option of opening the file, which I did.

LMS was then installed, with a dialogue box asking for it to be given
access to System Preferences. I clicked OK.

I can see that LMS is running by going to localhost:9000 on my browser,
and the LMS web interface opened.

This seems pretty straightforward to me, with one or two steps added by
the Apple developers in the name of security, and only took a couple of
minutes. I don't have any use for LMS on my MacBook, so I'll delete it
now :-)
