I, too, run Ubiquiti hardware (USG-Pro/CkGen2+)...
The Boom has an older WiFi chip, and if it's like on my system, your issue is Fast Roaming. Login to your controller, go to Settings/Site/Wireless Networks. Edit your network, turn off Fast Roaming (802.11R) Let me know if that works for you; did for me. If not there are a few other tricks. Fast Roaming caused a host of issues on some of my older equipment, and negligible benefit across my 4AP network. It's great if you're in a stadium, and roaming across hundreds of potential APs, not worth the headache in most homes.
