I have factored boostbook.css into @media screen and @media print sections, and customized the print section for black-and-white printing. What I did was replace any colored background fields with a thin gray border. That include TOCs, program listings, synopses, screen/console output, blurbs, and tables.
Check it out at: http://zigzag.lvk.cs.msu.su/~ghost/boost_docs
Use the print preview feature of your browser to get an idea of what your html docs will look like printed. (Don't forget to hit refresh to make sure you have the latest CSS.) As always, send your gripes here. :-)
I expect this to be the last round of tweaks before I throw all caution to the wind and check this in. Get your $0.02 in now.
Eric knows this, I hate to admit it, but...
The black headings grew on me. I still prefer the W3C blue headings (e.g. http://www.w3c.org/MarkUp/), but I do not have a strong opinion anymore. I'd still want to hear what others think.
...ahem ahem...
Finally, although it's not seen in the link you provided, in the syntax coloration here: (http://tinyurl.com/5rzoz), please change the operators' color to anything but black. I don't care what it is as long as it's not black -- my preference is the same color as the keywords without the bold weight.
Please understand that this was my baby before Eric picked it up :-). I actually spent a lot of time thinking and twiddling on this. I didn't intend this to go beyong the Spirit sphere but Doug insisted otherwise, which I agree now, is a good thing. May I ask that my $0.02 be increased to $0.03? :-)
Anyway... Kudos Eric!
Oh... and please add your name here: http://zigzag.lvk.cs.msu.su/~ghost/boost_docs/boostbook.css
