| Subject: [Boost-docs] Quickbook: nasty problem for emacs mode
|
| I'm working on an emacs editing mode for Quickbook.

FWIW, I find the most useful feature of TextPad's syntax (C++) checking is
simply that the [] brackets are highlighted which makes
(mis-)matching them much easier to spot.

A feature of Quickbook is that mismatching is difficult to diagnose and
produces some odd effects far away from the error, so a
checker that allowed one to identify the matching ] would be most useful. I
have sensed that missing ]s are not detected? But I
could be wrong.

Another feature that caused me some grief is that you can't simply have ]s in
comments -
that ends the comment. It does what it says on the can, but you can't quickly
comment out lines as you can with C++ //

But the most annoying feature at present is that using symbol templates like
[alpha], any trailing spaces are ignored and you must
write [alpha][space] to get a space before the next character.

But overall I now strongly recommend it for C++ writing documentation.
