John Saylor [[EMAIL PROTECTED]] quoth:
*>
*>With a phrase so tossed off, you've claimed the work of every
*>legislative body in this country is pointless [in your own mind]. Why
*>enact a law agaist child pornography if it's not morality? Every peice
*>of legislation has a basis in morality of some kind.

Because legislating it is one thing, enforcing it is quite another. You
can ask that people not steal, you can make it illegal, but it will not
give people pause and suddenly decide to reform their ways.

*>Oh, they try all the time. The cryptographers have taken sufficient
*>care, and worked in AN OPEN FRAMEWORK OUTSIDE OF COPYRIGHT to ensure
*>that this was not possible. It might all change tomorrow, but I consider
*>it unlikely.

RSA is copyrighted and is, for the most part, the most commonly used
public key encryption used on the internet. Making something opensource,
doesn't guarantee its imperviousness to imperfections...unless those
problems with BIND and wuftpd were really misunderstood features. I
consider it more than possible.

Mundus vult decipi is latin for the world wishes to be deceived. Technology
is a wonderful thing but at times I think it makes people forget very
basic lessons in the name of 'progress'.
