For all my other emacs cult members, be sure to check out www.emacswiki.org, for all the cool emacs tricks you couple possibly want- cperl mode for perl editing by default and the color themes are two of my favorite things I picked up there. I'm not a lisp guy, so this site was very helpful.
In fact, make sure you use cperl-mode for perl editing, it's included in 21.1 (though not the default) and is much better than perl-mode. -DJCP
