Actually on the topic of logging, log4perl has recently been
released. This is a Perl equivalent of the popular log4j system. It
provides a very nice API for logging events and then a configuration based
system for determining what happens to a logged event. Output to console,
log file, filtered, rotated logs, etc. It's still in the early development
stages but coming along nicely. Information is available at:
