Looks like a way to avoid the sluggishness of .NET. Probably a good thing if you are forced to use .NET for some reason.

Probably better just avoid the whole thing, tho. There is nothing evil about .NET. But nothing compelling, either. My experience with VS.NET shows me that it is still going through some teething problems in its infancy.

None of the .NET CLR languages are standard, either de facto or de jure. If you really want a Unicode-based, byte-code interpreter with garbage collection and reflection (and many folks do), just use Java.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend either Java or .NET for SOAP services or web development. Talk about heavyweight!

Thus, PerlNET is kind of a "so what" offering.
