Right, and that's fine for Tim Berners-Lee. On the other hand, Linus Torvalds is an American resident originally from Finland, and Richard Stallman, as far as I know, is also American. By my understanding, this disqualifies them for British knighthood. On the gripping hand, after reading over the URL from my last message, it seems like anyone can be granted the various British royal orders, but in general, non-UKians receive them on an honorary basis, without permission to use the salutation "sir" or "lady" or to be called a knight. But anyway, the point of the original message was whether or not Torvalds and Stallman would ever be granted knighthood, now that Berners-Lee has it. My hunch is that they're unlikely candidates, for various reasons. -- Chris _______________________________________________ Boston-pm mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.pm.org/mailman/listinfo/boston-pm
