I never excluded people. I was asking them to play a different game.
And I asked those who didn't want to play, to find a different game.
It isn't like it's impossible to have multiple independent conversations
on an email list. When people on the list start talking about some
nuance about any web programming problem, my eyes glaze over, but I
don't jump in and obstruct the conversation.

And I don't mind if people throw in some specific fact like
"they tried it here and it didn't work". But at some point,
I would generally expect everyone to present all their facts
and then let the people who want to play actually play with it.

But what happened was when the facts petered out, the FUD crept in.
And yeah, when the FUD started flying, I asked people to knock
off the fear mongering. That was the extent of my exclusionary
tactics. The rest of it was simply asking the people who weren't
interested in playing with certification etc to at least allow
the few of us who want to play to have a conversation. I don't
have to say anything when people are talking about CGI stuff.

You're arguing that the email list must always boil down to the
lowest common denominator, that everyone has a right to say
whatever they want, whenever they want, and that I shouldn't
expect any more than that.

I guess I was just hoping it was better than that.
