that is as good an approach as any. just state you are looking to host a
conference for about 300 for 3 days in late june. see if they can even
do that. then ask about the other needed yapc resources that are listed
in the web page and cpan module.

and i just read the use.perl.org posting for site proposals and its
deadline is in 4 days so we have no chance of submitting a proposal
unless the deadline is extended. being that i have not seen or heard
about any proposals, i think we still have time. :)
