18 people showed up to last night's meeting.

I presented my Pachinko JAPH, in both a verbose and golfed version, and
discussed some of the ways I compacted the code.

During my talk I received some helpful suggestions, and I am happy to
announce that I have reduced the golfed version by 13 characters since last
night! :D (The version at the link above is the original.)

I also showed how I used some simple JavaScript to create the highlighting
on the comparison between the two versions. Feel free to look at the
source of the pages to see how it works.

Then we updated everyone on our bid for YAPC 2007. We should know in the
next few weeks which city (Boston, Philadelphia, or Houston) has had their
bid accepted. For more info about our bid, visit our Wiki.

Uri gave out a bunch of Perl Foundation polo shirts - don't forget to make
a $15 donation (or more, they won't mind) to TPF if you received one of
these shirts!

Finally, Uri talked to us about a few projects he's been working on.
Specifically: packaging Tiny Template; Event::ThreadFarm; and ways to use
Expect and LWP in an event loop.

Next month's meeting will be on Tuesday, September 12. Jeff Barr from
Amazon.com will be speaking to us about Amazon Web Services.

And on Monday, September 25, a very special meeting with Damian Conway,
presenting The DaVinci Codebase and opentalk 2.0!
