We had 16 people came to last night's tech meeting.

As we waited for people to arrive, Bill Ricker showed us a web page about a
brute-force Sudoku solver in three lines:

Bill then showed us he used GD to overlay text and graphics on maps and
charts. He also briefly discussed XML::Twig. See his recent post for
examples and more info.

We took a quick break to give out the free books that Bill and Mark Dulcey
picked up from the O'Reilly booth at the end of Linux World. Thanks guys!
(I meant to mention the books in the announcement, but forgot. Sorry!)

Drew Taylor presented Timeline Tool, a project he's working on with B Ruml.
Drew began with an introduction to Catalyst, a popular web framework
written in Perl. He then demonstrated Timeline Tool's UI and explained how
it uses JavaScript Object Notation and the Prototype and Scriptaculous JS
libraries.

We also talked about SubEthaEdit, the collaborative text editor for Mac OS
X that Drew and B are using to develop Timeline Tool.

Next month's meeting will be on Tuesday, May 9. Please email me if
you'd like to give a presentation.

If you're looking for inspiration, here's our list of proposed topics.
Topics not on that list are welcome too, of course.
