We have a Permanent Perl Development opportunity available in Bedford, MA. *** Salary range: 85-100k (depending on experience). Full medical, dental, matching 401k and stock options are available. There is also a company wide bonus. I have made several placements with my client so they know me and my company very well. This position requires someone on-site full time with the exception of poor weather.. Working with the Engineering and Operations team, in multiple offices, to help expand and develop tools for monitoring and reporting on several 24x7 mission critical in-house applications. Help integrate multiple complex commercial applications into the operations environment across several datacenters nationwide. Will also be involved with providing technical knowledge and support to various internal technology departments in the organization. Technical Requirements: * A strong understanding of Perl scripting and best practices coding. * Competency in working with Microsoft SQL 2000 (enterprise and standard editions) and Windows 2000 Server in a cluster configuration. * An understanding of Microsoft operating systems and networking environments. * Knowledge of Microsoft services such as IIS and Active Directory. * Understanding of Microsoft scripting and scripting in general. * An understanding of general networking concepts such as TCP/IP, RCP, DCOM, SSL, HTTP, routers, firewalls and security. * Experience with on line alarming, reporting and trending tools. * The ability to plan, test, debug and implement the safe modification of a production database environment during software upgrade cycles. Education and Work Experience: * BS in Computer Science, MIS or related field. * Strong Perl scripting skills. * Database development experience with SQL Server in an on-line service environment. * Experience working with OLTP style databases with very high peak transaction rates. * Experience in a 24x7 production environment.
