Hi David,

Sounds like you are successfully logging onto earthlink if you can get email at 
all.  This might suggest that you have a poor telephone connection.  Is there a 
different access number you could try?  

Also, do you have any significant noise on your phone line during regular phone 
usage?  This could also cause a problem in maintaining a solid dialup 
connection.  

If you can, you might try attempting to dial in using a different phone line.  
Maybe you could try it from a friend's house for example.
