Hi Carol, I use a linksys router and it works just fine. The main thing is to just use wep and possibly mac addressing as your security. In the case of wep, you can use 64 or 128-bit security. As for the cards, the Ambicom works very well and you can get them from Amazon.com for around $55.
Also the Sandisk card which is a combo with a wireless card and a 128 meg cf card works very well. I don't know the model number for the sandisk card. The other cards, except for the Ambicom, work on both the MPower and the classic braillenote, but the Ambicom is the only inexpensive card which will work on the classic units due to limitations in the processor and available drivers. So, if you're looking for cards for the MPower, I'd suggest continuing to check the humanware site as I imagine that now that the conventions are over, they will have more people available to get the documentation up on the wetsite.
