No. The 1 gb cards will work just fine. You just can't use them when upgrading keysoft but go ahead and use them for gps maps, music, or whatever else you want to store on them. I have a 512 mb card which I store some things on but mainly have for upgrade purposes and I also have a 1 gb card which I can use just for storage of anything else.
