I didn't want to say much about the good ol reset because if I remember
correctly, that didn't work on my classic, however I haven't run into such a
thing since Last March because I haven't downloaded anything much since
then.

The regular reset should straighten this out for you.
Once in a while, you may have to do this a couple of times but not to
worry,
the exception violation error will go away, and things will get back to
normal.
