Rabid defense of the status quo is a sure way to block progress. I believe lack
of progress is what many of us are questioning. It simply gives one pause to
observe the changes that have and have not taken place in notetakers to PDA's
for the blind.

For my own part I am saying that I miss some of the features we had a dozen
years ago and am wondering why they have been deemed unnecessary by Humanware.
There are some fun and useful new features to be sure. However, Keysoft was
around in the early to mid 90's on the Keynote Companion. The user could change
its battery, attach its floppy drive, have a sighted person read its built in
display which doubled as a hard cover to protect the keyboard for any number
of good reasons, and so on. Adding the Braille display is marvelous for those
who want it. Taking the best from the history of the industry and adding it as
well is simply ghood development, and not that much to ask.

Features I miss from the Braillemate and Transtype, for those are the units I
have used over the years, are the phone dialer, the ability to create macros,
simple and accurate cut and paste editing, The ability to leave several
processes open and jump between them without losing your place from one to the
next, a real notebook style keyboard rather than chicklets keys oddly aligned,
and, just a personal preference, a voice I could hear better - As my hearing
gets worse, I'd like it if we could add other voices.
