Well, first of all, they are no longer being produced.
The Keynote Companion and the Braille Companion were clearly forerunners
of the current product.
They both ran a version of Keysoft, and they were note taking devices.
Each unit had a kind of long rectangular battery pack on the right-hand
side, that was user replaceable.  They also had a set of double A
batteries as well.
I  liked both units, but I found them to be a bit unstable at times.
However, they were innovative in that for the first time a user had at
his/her fingertips a suite of useful programs
