Hi Jean, To get the braillenote to function as a braille terminal you have to be sure you perform the steps in order. Otherwise it won't work for you.
First get your cables connected which it sounds as though you've done. Be sure to use the cable which was shipped with the bn. Next you need to be sure that activesync or maybe a synthesizer isn't already assigned to the serial port you want to use. If it is, you need to change that before you go any further. Next, turn on the bn and select braille terminal from the main menu. If the display says something like "braille terminal", press enter and the display should go totally blank. This is what you want it to do. Next, start your computer or else restart jaws manually. The bn has to be in the braille terminal mode before jaws is loaded in order for jaws to load the driver correctly. I hope this is of some help. Don
