I do have the witcom drivers. On d-link's web page, they give you instructions on how to remove the microsoft driver that gets installed by default and to get the d-link or witcom one to take precedence. This is done by going to the device manager page under system. Then, you have to use the add hardware wizard to get it to see the correct driver.
They have a pdf file you can download with instructions on their web site.
I am going to try reinstalling this evening. Hopefully, I can get things running.
