I've had this happen but a couple of resets have mended the problem.
You might want to do a 456 or jkl reset and try inserting the card. Also, where 
are you putting the card? If in the back, if you have a card adapter, try 
putting the card in the adapter and putting it in the slot in the side.
I neglected to ask what machine you are using.
I had this with my old classic Bn and after about 4 or 5 resets the machine 
took the card but it does take some playing around with.
Just a few ideas tossed out there in hopesthey would help.
