I found out for myself about the letter sign having to be before a letter
when using a Braille 'n Speak classic in school. My elementary school
teacher came up to me after one of the first multiple choice teste I did
after getting it asking what the "but can do" answers were supposed to
mjean. At 10 or 11 years of age, I asked her to use the first letter of the
word for my answer for that time. The next time it was test time I used the
letter signs by my answers, and had no complaints.

Subject: RE: [Braillenote] translation
When using a computer or note taker, there are a few things that need to
occur when translating into print. If you want a letter c to be read as a
c then just get in the habbit of using the letter sign. That's what I
teach the kids. I just let them know that it's something you have to do
when writing on the note takers. I discovered that way back in the versa
braille days.
