Hello, on my previous desktop, I was able to use the serial port with Active
Sync. I have been using my infrared port on the laptop, but the laptop has
problems, so I can't use it right now. Now I find that I can't get active
Sync to work properly. Here is the situation with that. I don't know where
my original cable is which connected the BN to the computer. I have a cable
which feels the same, though I realize it could be wired differently. I
doubt though that it is wired differently, because the Braille Note has no
problem acting as either a braille display or a speech terminal. This cable
which feels the same is the one I used to connect my computer to a larger
Alva display. Would the cable be the issue, where it works fine for speech
and braille transfers, but not for file transfers with Active Sync? If it
indeed is not the right cable, then how much would a replacement cost?
Further to my theory that the cable is fine is the fact that Active Sync
gives a message saying it doesn't know which device is trying to connect, so
the cable must be working properly. It just will not connect, no matter
which com port I set it on, nor which actual port it is plugged into. This
equipment, from the BN side, is three years old, but it worked before.
Thanks a lot.
Matthew
