Hi, all. Well, here's the latest on my loop. I called tech support
this morning, and they had me do a service reset. It said system
files needed updating, so I did the 4 5 6 reset, then it said the
files had been updated and to do a regular reset, and the loop
continued. The tech person called me back later and suggested I try
the reset with dots 1 2 3. I'd already done this, but tried it, and
it worked like it should, taking me back to the main menu. She
seemed delighted, thinking the problem was solved. I asked if I
should do one more regular reset just to make sure. At first she
said it wasn't necessary, but she eventually agreed. Lo and behold,
we were back in the loop. She told me I'd have to send the unit in,
so I called for an RMA number. Karen assisted me, and was very
sympathetic. But she suggested that before I send the unit in, I
wait until Monday and talk to Chris Polk, who was at a convention
today. (I found out later that the convention was the NFB convention
here in Sacramento. If I'd known, I would have tried to hook up with
him today, even if I had to take time off work!) So I'm still
looping, but at least I can use the unit and enjoy it, as much as you
can enjoy something you may soon be parted from. <sigh>
