What extention is the document you're trying ot open?

I've had an issue with a few attachments I've received from a professor.
When I press "enter" on the attachment, the mPower prompts "detach or
read?". This is all fine, but here's where things get... frustrating.
If I choose detach, it'll bring up a message asking me if I wish to
translate the file into a KeyWord document. When I say yes, I receive a
message saying, "the file converter found the input file is not a valid
word 6.0 95 or 97 document." This is followed by me having to do a reset
on the mPower because it freezes.
If I choose to read the file, I get the same message as well. Does anyone
have a clue as to what this means? I have been able to receive some
attachments from this professor before, but I just don't get it!
If anyone has any ideas and or suggestions, they'd be great, because she
sends me class worksheets so I can follow along in class with the mPower,
but not if I can't open the attachments!
