Hello Mary and all,

There are still a lot of laptops that have the PCMCIA cards installed, so
the BrailleNote in its many variations isn't behind in its technical savvy
by having it in my opinion. It's not just microdrives, you can also use the
pcmcia for accessing a network with a pcmcia network interface card. You
can also use a pcmcia adapter to use a compaq flash card, and of course you
could use a wireless card that is pcmcia so that you won't have to use the
compaq flash for a wireless card if you'd rather not do so.

Just some thoughts,

Beth

Andy,
I have to agree with you on the pcm cia slot.I can understand why people
with older Note family members, who have invested in microdrives would like
to see that slot retained. But I haven't seen such a slot on any laptop I've
looked at in the store for the last year or more, including the one I bought
earlier this year. I wonder if retention of that slot was just one of the
ways Humanware sought to make the transition/upgrade easier for previous
customers. I'd certainly rather see a different media type, or two sd slots
or whatever as opposed to pcm cia. For those who say pcm cia isn't scarce,
I'd like to hear some examples of pcm cia devices being sold right now,
other than the micro drive, of course, which I guess is still available. I
have the idea that pcm cia devices are more costly and eat more battery than
do sd or flash cards. If that's wrong, please educate me.
Mary
