Hello,
If you get a cashiers check or a certified check from your bank the money is taken out of your account when the check is written. It is up to the company to keep track of your check when purchasing a product.
I would always keep the receipt that the bank gives you.
Also, I would send the certified check Overnight via UPS or the US Postal Service with signed receipt received from the company that I am purchasing from.
Just my thoughts, for what they are worth.

This is not necessarily true. You could write this check on a Friday and
that money will remain in your account until they get that check. that
could take weeks. If they should overlook it and you inadverently spent
the money, what a mess that can create! I think a check is not that
secure.
