Hi, Listers. I sent this message to Dean and Jonathan, as I wanted their
opinions on this. I would be interested in hearing from any other Mpower
users as well to see if you have had similar experiences.
Last night at around 5:30 PM, I started discharging my MPower. That is the
time it started talking once It had reached a point to begin that part of
the cycle.
I was surprised to find out this took only around 7-8 hours instead of the
10-11 I was getting with my bn classic.
At that point, I found the MPower making a rapid ticking sound as if if the
speech had gotten stuck. I decided to leave it doing this for the remainder
of the night, although, I did use function comma to turn down the volume.
When I checked the unit this morning arount 10 AM, It was still ticking
rapidly. Turning the unit off did no good. only a reset stopped this and
the unit came right up. Checking the battery status told me I was at 11
percent. So, leaving it ticking all night did not charge the unit.
I let it charge for an hour or so then decided to try the calibration
again. Starting percentage at that time was at 53 percent. I left it for
the remainder of the day. On coming home this evening, I found a message
which told me the clock needed to be set. So, sometime during the day, I
assume the talk down started, but the unit seems to have reset itself. I
entered the time and date and got the main menu up. Again, I checked the
battery status and found that it was still at 53 percent, where it was when
I had started this morning.
I turned the unit off and it appears to be charging.
It appears that something must be happening during the talk down when the
battery goes dead. Although, I didn't get the rapid ticking as at the
first, I got a reset at some point, yet the charge did not go back up to
100 percent in either case as it should have.
Either this new calibration method doesn't work very well or I am missing a
step somewhere. The manual doesn't say that I need to remove the AC adapter
when the talk down starts.
First, I am surprised that the MPower only goes 7-8 hours on a charge since
we were told that the MPower had the same battery life as the bn classic.
Second, Two attempts to do a calibration seemed to have failed.
as anyone with an Mpower tried the calibration?
What are your thoughts?
Thanks.
