Make sure the cable is a null modem cable. The ends are the same, but the pin configuration is different.

I have not been there, but by phone Office Max appears to have the appropriate serial cables, with the appropriate ends, that is, a 25 d male and a 9 d female. The price was thought to be between $20 and $30. I hope to get to Office Max shortly and try it out. I may have to bring it home to try this, but it was felt I could return it if necessary. Neither Max nor Office Depot had converter cables. I have not tried Radio Shack yet. I am in total agreement that either $160 or $250 is entirely way too much money to spend on something to make the mPower work in the same manner as did the classic. If this serial cable works, that'll be great. Settings like baud, parity, duplex, data bits, and stop bit are simple enough to set, and once set shouldn't need changing unless the equipment changes. I have a Blazer embosser also, and again, once the settings are set, you're good to go. If need be, I will have to resort to using my trusty little Braille ;'n Speak to create documents I wish to braille or print. I can email to my PC to do this also, but either one of these choices shouldn't be necessary. As for a fix in the 7.0. Again, this is more money to fix something which should have worked in the proper way in the first place. I still do like many features of the mPower. I just wish it could do what my forever gone and lamented classic did, and that includes cell phone connectivity with a not so new phone! Happy Thanksgiving to all!
