I t would only stand to reason that the closer you are to your sound
source, the better the quality you will have in your recording. If you
are recording a lecture, it would behoove you to sit as close to the
lecturer as possible. No microphone that any of us can afford will
change that.

Jonathan,
Can it record things in a good quality no matter where you are in the
room?

Subject: [Braillenote] A Microphone for BrailleNote mPower

Hi all, I'm passing this information on as a BrailleNote mPower user.
HumanWare has no relationship with the company concerned.

There've been a few people interested in good microphones for the
BrailleNote mPower. Recently I purchased a microphone from a small
company called Giant Squid Audio lab. It's a gold plated microphone
housed in a standard 3.5 mm plug. So what you get is a plug that goes
into the microphone socket of your BrailleNote mPower, and the
microphone is included in the actual plug. No wires to worry about or
anything to hold. The quality of this little microphone is remarkable,
the frequency response is superb. And it is omnidirectional, which means
that it's ideal for recording sound in any direction anywhere in the
room. I used this microphone as part of my most recent podcast and am
delighted with the results. It only costs around US$19.

There are other microphone products available as well.

The URL for the company is http://www.giant-squid-audio-lab.com.
