This is Joseph. I have wrote about this a few weeks
ago. To access files and folders on the network, you
need:
A home or small business network
A network-capable computer
BrailleNote
A network card (Type Socket Low Power Ethernet model:
EA2902-139 which has a permanently connected cable)
A network router/switch/hub
Let us say that you have a home network called "my
home" and you want to access My Documents folder on a
PC named "home pc."
1. Insert the Ethernet card onto the BrailleNote.
Insert it onto either CF or PC card slot. BrailleNote
should popup and say, depending on the model, either
"card inserted" or "network card ready."
2. For this purpose, go to file manager and select
directory.
3. When asked for the drive, type n for network. If it
finds a network, it'll prompt, "network place?"
Otherwise, it'll prompt "network is not availible." At
this prompt press space to get to the item "browse
entire network."
4. BrailleNote than prompts, "network server name?".
For our example type home pc. Press enter.
5. Windows CE networking dialog appears. Press y for
yes.
6. Then it says, "network folder name?", press space
to get to the item My Documents and press enter. A
note on naming network folders: If the folder name is
greater than 12 characters long, BrailleNote would be
able to detect a folder but it won't show it on the
network folder name. In this case, you have to type
the exact name of the folder.
7. After selecting the network folder, BrailleNote
will prompt you to map the folder as a network place.
For convenience, it is helpful to map the folder as a
network place.
8. From now it is same as browsing file and folder
structure of the BrailleNote.
To access network files and folder after initial
setup:
1. When the network card is inserted, go to file
manager/directory. At the drive prompt, press n for
network.
2. At the network place prompt, press space until you
see the item that points to the network folder. Press
enter.
3. It will prompt to log onto the network. Press space
and press escape. The same Windows CE dialog appears.
Press y for yes.
4. From here on it is browsing the files and folder on
the BrailleNote.
I hope this information may help you.
p.s. I use computer braille when I do Algebra 2
homework and assignments.
