Hi Don,

Well, after working with the unit for the last hour or so, the problem has
become much more intermittent. I had two instances in the menu where I
actually saw a dot pop back into place on its own. In otherwords, in the
Word Processing Menu, the forth option down was Print a Document. Dot 2 in
the t in Document displayed as an AR sign, but became a T before my very
fingers! It seems like the exercising of the display has helped, as during
the day, dot 3 was missing the majority of the time in the menus, file
lists, and sometimes when editing a document. I did one service reset this
morning, but not since exercising the display. I hope Jonathan or Dean will
join this discussion, as I sure need HW's input. If the problem remains
very intermittent or doesn't occur, then I will likely hold off on sending
back the unit on Monday; at least I've got the weekend to experiment.
Besides, I still want to get my GPS bluetooth receiver detected, so I'll be
using the unit quite a bit, as well as for preparing for a training session
I am conducting on Monday. The file will be save to a flash card, you can
bet on that! By the way, yes, I always close files before performing any
resets. More to come tomorrow.
Best Regards,

Les

Hi Les,

Does this only happen in the menus or also when you're reading or editing
text?

If it only happens in certain applications, a service reset might be
helpful. As long as you have all files closed which I'm sure you would do
for any reset, there shouldn't be a problem.

You do the service reset by pressing the record button on the left-hand side
of the bn and simultaneously press the reset button. Once you release the
reset button, there's no need to continue holding down the record button.

This is a major reset so you will need to reset the clock, but the prompts
are good as you would expect.

On the otherhand, if dot 3 is not there when reading or writing text, it
just may be something with the braille display.

Sure hope you don't have to send it back especially right after getting it.

Don
