Hi Katie: How long have you had your m-power? I'm asking you this because maybe you need to send the unit back to get the battery replaced. anyway, good luck, and I hope the problem gets fixed.

Subject: [Braillenote] mPower battery issues, please help!
Date: Mon, 21 Nov 2005 16:46:44 -0500

The other day when I checked the status of my battery, I received the message that my MP needed recalibrating. I've received this message before, and had to exit out of the power status setting, and retry, so I didn't think much about it. Then, when I checked the status a second time, it gave me the same message about recalibrating. I believe this occurred Wednesday. So, I decided I'd just wait until I got home for my holiday break yesterday, Sunday, to recalibrate.

Well, last night while I was reading my e-mail offline, I received the "battery is critical message". While I was in the process of plugging in and connecting the AC adapter, the MP tried to do a reset or something. It beeped at me, and when I plugged in the AC adapter, it reset, and I had to fix the clock.

I then went to the support information mode, and hit r to start recalibration. My unit began to talk... something about discharging the battery.

I began this process at 9:30 PM eastern time. When I woke up this morning at 7:30 AM, I checked it, and it said something about cycle 2.

I'm just wondering what is happening here. How long should I let my MP do its thing while recalibrating? It just keeps discharging and then charging again, then it starts all over.

Right now I'm connected via the AC adapter so I can write this message and everything, but I'm just concerned about this issue!

Another note, when I enter the support information mode and press a, the message displays "gauge is not accurate, error plus or minus 100 percent". What's the deal here?

Thanks everyone.

Katie
