Kathy,

The software is very similar for both units, if not the same.  BN and VN users 
can use the same upgrades and the units have the same command structure.  The 
only difference is, of course, those commands that deal with the Braille 
display, which are specific to the BN, including those for thumb keys.  These 
are part of the Braille display.  (I can see why someone would get confused by 
the thumb key option on the VN, since it's not necessary.)  I have read, over 
and over on this list, how people think a BN won't do something a VN will do, 
and vice versa, and nothing is further from the truth.  Someone, please correct 
me if I'm wrong here, but there isn't anything a VoiceNote can do that a 
BrailleNote can't do, providing they are running the same version of Keysoft 
and have the same hardware.  They are pretty much the exact same animal, only 
one has a Braille display and one does not.
