Lisa,
A lot of people have had problems with Earth link. In fact, I got the
same errors and hang ups when I tried to use Earth Link's settings at my
grandparent's to access my messages. To test this, try accessing a
different account with a different ISP if that's possible for you to do.

Subject: [Braillenote] email frustrations continue

Hi Everyone,
Okay the email frustrations continue. This morning I had 59 messages to
download. The BN did okay until message 43. Then I got the following
error message. error 10054. I exited and pressed i to hang up
immediately and tried downloading again. I have a BN BT. After several
attempts I got my emails. When I went to empty the trash I only had 48
emails not 59 to delete. What it did with those other 11 emails is
beyond me. A little later I decided to check email again. It showed I
had 64 messages this time. I checked in the setup options under receive
options and found that the BN was set to delete the emails from the
server after receiving. I called Earthlink and had them delete all of
my emails. Here's what concerns me. My BN started having trouble with
emails giving weird error messages right before its Braille display
crashed last time. Why these two issues go together I cannot explain. I
tried deleting the email database last time and it didn't solve the
problem. I don't know if it is worth deleting the Keymail database this
time only to have the problems persist. I feel like I have to baby-sit
my BN when it downloads email to make sure it is downloading okay. This
is time-consuming and frustrating. Thanks for letting me vent. The ISP I
use isn't through Earthlink. I use Earthlink for my pop server. My
local ISP is my smptp server so where my email is sent out and I use my
local ISP to access the Internet. Confusing but it usually works.

The ISP tech support are closed today. The ISP technicians recently
upgraded my services. I was worried that upgrading my services was a
bad idea but they were upgrading all of their antennae sites. My
service is broadband but I don't use a wireless card. I use the
Etheernet card that works with the BN the one Pulsedata recommends.
This card is hooked to a Cat 5 cable which is hooked to my router. Any
suggestions would be helpful. Thanks for your time and your help. Sorry
this is lengthy. Lisa
