Yes, Thumb Drives and Micro Drives are very portable. I've only seen Thumb Drives which hold like 2 GB of stuff... which is still a good amount.
I know Micro Drives hold up to at least 6 GBS of storage, but I have not personally experienced these. Based on some of the discussion I've observed on this list, if I were you, I'd stay away from the Micro Drives. For some people, they seem to be quite temperamental! This is just my opinion though.
