Hi there Leslie,

I am on the Braille Note list and have seen you on a few lists. I
thought I would reply privately so that we can have a discussion on this
one and those who don't want to join it won't have to.

I think the computer disk was often spelt with a "C" at the end when the
name first came in, but now most people spell it with a "K". In both
cases, with this word, the sound is the same even if the letter is
different. The trouble with English is that it has so many exceptions
to rules. "K" can sometimes be a silent one, as in "knock". If you are
saying the letters of the alphabet the letter "K" is different from the
letter "C" in that "C" is pronounced "see" and "K" sounds like "Kay".
Now is that confusing?

I hope not.!

Write back if you need more.

Theresa and others,

Reason why did I ask because some blind people spell "disc" but it
really mean "disk". That was why I was wondering.
